By now we all know that the writers and contributors of Milky are globetrotters. We feel a serene excitement on trains, planes, and boats, and we quench ourselves with adventures. Today’s adventure is one of the many down to London. But it got us thinking about working towards something you want.
We revise our goals for Milky regularly – always making sure we’re changing for the better. Our team is small but it’s slowly growing – attracting amazing, creative and enthusiastic people. We’re based in different parts of the world and yet somehow are all working to create content that is beautiful and thoughtful. Working for something you want takes work, but we all know that. What we don’t know is how that hard work will take place. We know the late nights, the unreliability, the ‘no-thanks-we’re-not-interested’, but what we don’t know is that the hardest part of all of it is convincing yourself that no matter what, you will make it work – you MUST make it work. You must wholly and truly believe it – an enthusiasm that is completely underestimated. People will begin to believe in you if you emit a true passion for whatever it is that you’re doing. And yet, you cannot rely on the validation of others if you truly want to succeed at whatever you’re doing – it comes completely and independently from you and your gut.
I am tired of moving between countries every two weeks – but none of this would happen without it. Milky would never meet the amazing people it does, we would never work with talented creatives or visit the places we do. No matter how tired we are of working on something, it always seems to be the smallest thing, whatever it may be, that can push you that one step further. However, we should never wait for the small thing to happen: we should be making it ourselves. That is the hunger you need to properly work towards something you want.
